Boomerang Nominations open in January!

What goes around, comes around!

BC Cares continues its long tradition of recognizing students in our community with the Boomerang Youth Recognition Awards and Scholarships. This program is based on The Search Institute's 40 developmental assets: researched based key indicators for educational success. Nominations can be submitted by coaches, parents, school staff, community members, friends, mentors, neighbors, etc.

It's a simple form where the nominator is prompted to describe in 200 words or less why the K-12 student they are nominating should be honored for their: 'Integrity', 'Cultural Competence,' 'Personal Power,' 'Reading for Pleasure,' 'Bonding to School,' or 'Learning Engagement.'

Winners and honorees are acknowledged for their achievement and provided citations from PA representatives. BC Cares also provides letters of recommendation to any Boomerang nominees, past, present and future.

Additionally, any Boomerang nominee is eligible for The Boomerang Scholarship Program when they come of age and are pursuing a continuation of their educational goals.

Buck County Cares Youth Council

A leadership development program

BC Cares is excited to implement a program for the 24-25 school year that will provide an opportunity for high schoolers to learn how to sit on a Board of Directors and become a community organizer. They will facilitate events, and be given the opportunity to create for themselves the goals and outcomes they wish to achieve together.

Currently, the council is planning a fundraising event to benefit Kisses for Kyle, a support foundation for childhood cancer. Learn more by clicking the button below!
